New Brand Thinking

HKLM initiated the first in a new series of Business Leaders Forums in Lagos centred on idea generation and branding issues of the day in a post-election economy poised for growth in a dynamic regional and international environment. The first event in the 2015 series was hosted at the Spice Route restaurant on Victoria Island, which resonated playfully with the theme of ‘spicy new ideas.’

The lunch was attended by executives from the cosmetic, petrochemical, professional services, oil, financial services and ICT sectors which made for rich discussion across a range of industries, facilitated by the HKLM team. A short presentation was given to initiate the working lunch brainstorm and this facilitated three primary themes for discussion:

Brand and reputation – exploring the link between business brands and the national Nigerian brand reputation; and how this can positively drive regional awareness and ultimately, Brand Africa

Technology and disruption – the acknowledged effect that new media and social platforms are having on all facets of business and society and what the opportunities and implications are for brands in this new environment

Customer service – the notion of internal branding and how organisations can achieve competitive advantage through higher levels of staff engagement and service differentiation, by delivering consistently on their brand promise

HKLM Group executives Gary Harwood and Sean McCoy were in attendance for the session and so too was local office director, Chika Ikenga. General Manager Simon Willar and his team are in the process of preparing the next event which will be communicated in due course.
